Reading Light, 2020 foregrounds the object nature of a reading lamp and through silhouette and amplification of light transforms it into an other-worldly form. Painted on a cloudy chrome background this lamp appears as an apparition or futuristic vehicle. With this work, Davis addresses the power of reading and the knowledge gained from the experience to liberate and empower previously hidden truths.
